Cookie Policy
Our Cookie Policy explains in a transparent manner how we use cookies on our website (hereinafter “Website”).
What are cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of text consisting of letters and/or numbers that enable a web server to store information on the client (i.e. the browser, such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera… ) which can then be reused during the same visit (session cookies) or later (persistent cookies). Depending on the user’s preferences, cookies are stored by individual browsers on the device being used (computer, tablet, smartphone).
Similar technologies, such as web beacons, clear GIFs and all forms of local storage introduced by HTML5 can be used to collect information about the user’s behavior and how services are used.
Cookies cannot collect any other data from the user’s hard disk nor transmit computer viruses or acquire email addresses. Each cookie is unique to the user’s web browser. Some purposes of Cookies can be delegated to other technologies. The word ‘Cookie’ refers to cookies and similar technologies.
Depending on their features and purposes, Cookies can be:
Strictly necessary technical cookies – These cookies are essential to the proper functioning of a website and are used to manage several website-related services, such as logins or accesses to secure areas. The duration of cookies is strictly limited to each work session, but they may be remain longer in order to remember the user’s choices. Turning off strictly necessary cookies may compromise the user browsing experience on a website.
Analytics cookies and performance cookies. These cookies are used to anonymously collect and analyze the traffic and use on a website. Although they do not identify users, these cookies can for example determine if a website is re-entered by the same user. They are also used to monitor the system and improve its performances and usability. As will be explained in detail later, turning off these cookies will result in no loss of functionality.
Profiling cookies. Profiling cookies are permanent cookies used both anonymously and openly to identify the user’s preferences and improve the browsing experience. While navigating a site, users may also be sent cookies from other websites or web servers (“third parties”), which may contain certain elements (such as, for example, pictures, maps, sounds, specific links to pages of other domains).
For more information on these cookies, please visit the relative section at www.garanteprivacy.it/cookie.
Purposes and processing of session technical cookies.
We use technical Cookies exclusively to permit digital authentications, monitor sessions and store specific technical information concerning the users accessing our servers. Some operations may not be performed without Cookies, which, in some cases, are therefore technically necessary. For example, accessing the secure area of a website and doing any actions within that area would be much more complex and less safe without cookies enabling the website to identify users and to keep them identified within the same session.
As there are no technical features distinguishing them, cookies need to be grouped into categories based on the objectives pursued by those who use them. In line with this and in compliance with the provisions of Directive 2009/136/EC, the legislator has made it mandatory for website operators to ask users for their prior informed consent to the installation of cookies for purposes other than merely technical ones (see art. 1, paragraph 5, letter. a) of Legislative Decree No 69 of 28 May 2012, which amended Article 122 of the Code). Moreover, the European body made up of all the national data protection authorities of EU Member States (the “Article 29” Working Party) has explained in Opinion 4/2012 (WP194) “Cookie Consent Exemption” that the installation of the following cookies does not require the user’s prior and informed consent:
1. User input cookies (session-id), for the duration of a session or persistent cookies limited to a few hours in some cases
- Authentication cookies, used for authenticated services, for the duration of a session;
- User centric security cookies, used to detect authentication abuses, for a limited persistent duration
- Multimedia content player session cookies, such as flash player cookies, for the duration of a session;
- Load balancing session cookies, for the duration of session;
- UI customization persistent cookies, for the duration of a session (or slightly more);
- Third party social plug-in content sharing cookies, for logged in members of a social network.
Here are some examples of technical cookies used by this website, accompanied by some explanatory notes:
- Cookies placed directly into the user’s/contractor’s device (which will not be used for other purposes) such as session cookies used to “add to the shopping cart” in online reservations, authentication cookies, multimedia player session cookies such as flash player cookies that do not exceed the duration of the session and customization cookies, which for example facilitate the choice of the browser language and automatically complete IDs and passwords etc;
- Cookies that are used to statistically analyse accesses/visits to the site (the “Analytics” cookies) for statistical purposes only – not for profiling or marketing purposes – and collect aggregate information, thus preventing the identification of individual users. As the current legislation with regard to Analytics cookies requires us to inform you thoroughly and clearly about how you can easily opt out from their installation or anonymize cookies, here is how you can easily turn off Analytics cookies: open your browser, select the settings menu, click on the internet options, open the privacy page and select the cookie block preferred option. To delete stored Cookies, just open the privacy page and clear the history by checking the “clear Cookies” box.
Third Party Cookies.
When navigating a website you may be sent cookies from websites managed by other organizations (“third parties”) residing in Italy or abroad.
A notable example is the presence of YouTube videos, Google APIs, Google Maps elements and “social plugins” for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn. These webpage elements are generated directly by these websites and integrated into the host site. Social plugins are most commonly installed to enable users to share contents on social networks, in order to improve the user experience.
The use of such plugins implies the transmission of cookies to and from all third-party websites. Information obtained from third parties is managed in accordance with their user policies. Please find below the links to privacy policies and cookie management information. Be aware that we hold no liability for the use of third-party cookies on this website.

As all browsers are different, click on the “HELP” menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences. For example, in Microsoft Internet Explorer you can disable or clear cookies by selecting “Tools/Internet Options” and changing the privacy settings or by selecting “delete cookies”. However, please be aware that this site was designed to use cookies, so disabling them may result in errors and worsen the user experience.
Third-party liability.
With this regard, reference is made to the General Provision issued by the Italian Data Protection Authority on May 8, 2014: “There are several reasons why it would appear impossible to require a publisher to provide information on and obtain consent for the installation of cookies on his own website also with regard to those installed by “third parties”. In the first place, a publisher would be required to always be equipped with the tools and the legal and business skills to take upon himself the obligations of third parties – thus, the publisher would be required to check, from time to time, that what is declared by the third parties corresponds to the purposes they are actually aiming at via their cookies.
. This is a daunting task because a publisher often has no direct contacts with all the third parties installing cookies via his website, nor does he know the logic underlying the respective processing. Furthermore, it is not seldom that licensees step in between a publisher and the said third parties, which makes it ultimately highly difficult for the publisher to keep track of the activities of all the subjects involved. Third parties´ cookies might be modified by the third parties with time, and it would prove rather dysfunctional to require publishers to keep track also of these subsequent changes.”
As explained by the Italian Data Protection Authority, our website cannot manage any third-party cookies that may be required for any third-party services on this website (YouTube, Google Maps, “social buttons”): third parties are responsible for them. In addition, please remember that you can delete and block cookies at any time also by using browser plugins and changing settings as indicated in the browser user manuals.
